John Yarbrough helps businesses stand out
By Keith Wood - The Cleveland Current Senior Writer
We've all heard the song; "Signs, signs, everywhere a sign" and we pass by them all the time. They are a fixture on every storefront,
and some are so recognizable that they are ingrained in our subconscious. In a business, good signage can be the difference between the
success or failure of the business. Good signage can increase a businessŐ opportunity for success and that's where John Signs in Cleveland enters the picture.
Owned and operated by John Yarbrough with the aid of his wife Charlotte and Steven Barbetti, John Signs can help a business make itself
stand out with custom signage that covers the gamut. Yarbrough and company supply signs ranging from billboards and automobile fleet customization to magnetic and electric design.
"Signage is more than a shingle over your front door. Your sign program plays a vital role in helping your potential customers formulate their first impression of your business," said Yarbrough.
He and his designers consider all the factors that are distinctive to the individual customer's situation when creating a sign.
"A businesses' location, visibility, architecture, local sign codes, and customer demographic are all considered when we create a design,"
he added. "We aim to provide a product that is both functional and beautiful."
Born in Shaw, Yarbrough always took art classes and loved drawing and designing. "I was lucky enough to be mentored by Paul Belenchia.
I apprenticed with him at Paul Signs from the time I was a small kid. He taught me a great deal and gave me tremendous guidance," he said.
After graduating from Shaw High School, Yarbrough took his love for calligraphy and design and enrolled in all the art courses offered at
Delta State University to hone his knowledge and skills. Later, when Belenchia decided to retire, he brought Yarbrough in as his successor.
After a name change, John Signs has never looked back. They have provided custom graphics for all manners of business. Both the Cleveland
and Pace Police departments have utilized John Signs designs, giving their fleets a modern and sleek look. The Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department
added reflective 22-karat gold decals to their vehicles that were produced by Yarbrough.
Both Aaron's Rent To Own and Holiday Inn Express have chosen Yarbrough's billboard designs to advertise throughout the area. The list of clients for John Signs is a long one.
Yarbrough has made sure he has kept up with technology. "All of our designs are created using the most advanced and powerful CNC and CAD programs available. We present drawings
or renderings that allow a company to envision how their sign will actually look upon completion," he said. "I have invested in keeping John Signs current with the most modern
computers, software programs and sign designing equipment available. We can create and produce every project in-house, which allows us to oversee each aspect, from design all the way to installation."
When asked about the future of his business, Yarbrough stated, "I have been blessed by operating in a great community."
